A client has sent me a PowerPoint presentation (prepared by a third
party). This client has sent these many times before and, in fact, I
still had an earlier presentation sitting on my desktop which I had no
problems with.

This time, when I try to open the file, I get an error message that the
viewer can't open it because the file is corrupted. But my client can
open the file just fine AND so can a friend of mine when I forwarded
the file to her. I tried redownloading the PowerPoint viewer and that
didn't help. I tried rebooting, too, as if that would help, but of
course not.

Any suggestions? TIA.

Try saving the file to your harddrive as opposed to opening it from within
the email application.

I did save it to my desktop, I don't try opening it from the email
(didn't know I could do that)--is that what you mean?
