Powerpoint viewer for Mac

This may be the wrong newsgroup, but. . .

I have a friend who has neither Powerpoint nor a Powerpoint viewer and
his computer is a Mac. He knows little or nothing about PCs and I know
nothing about Macs. I can send him a Powerpoint file but he can’t view
it. Is there a free viewer which can be downloaded to a Mac and used to
view PPS or PPT files created on a PC?

Thanks to both Michael and Steve for the information. The PDF converter
sounds like a more likely solution to this problem, I don't know the
age, OS or version of the Mac, and although my friend said he could find
that information for me, he hasn't done so yet.
