I've already searched through this discussion board for possible ways to save
downloaded templates for future use, but found no solution. I have tried
Save As and saving the presentation as a design template, still in the
presentation I'm working on the templates won't come up when I open the Slide
Design menu at the side and look through the templates on my computer.

I'm working on this presentation for a college project, so some helpful
suggestions would really hellp.

Does the template you saved have the extension POT? PPT files will not be
recognized as templates (but you can rename them in the Windows Explorer.)

Is the file stored in the right template folder? Template folders are
specified in Word under Tools - Options - Save for the whole Office Suite.

Best regards,
Ute

Start with a pres open with the downloaded template (no slides needed)
Save as > save as type = design template *.pot
Make sure you are saving to
<hard drive>\documents & settings\your name\application
data\microsoft\templates (should be chosen automatically)
Give your template a name that will bring it near the top of the list eg
1mytemplatename
Close powerpoint and reopen

If its not in the list (it should be) go to browse (at the bottom) and find
it.
