Powerpoint slow down

Powerpoint 2002 is the version that I am using. It just
started, about a week ago, going real slow. It is really
in all the office programs(Word, Powerpoint, etc.). I
can start typing and the words will not come up for
several seconds. Neither can I backspace and remove them
without long waits. I have tried to reinstall but the
same results.
What should I do?
