1.I would like to record a PowerPoint slideshow onto my
digital camcorder. Please tell me how this is
accomplished.
You're up against several factors here...
Not all camcorders can record from an external source. Even if your
camcorder has firewire in it may not have analogue in. Do you know this
information about your camera?
There's no way I know of to capture screen motion via firewire, though I'd
love to know of one as that would provide another possibility for DVD
creation.
If your camera does have analogue in and your PC has video out then you
could capture that way.
2. I also tried showing it on TV from my laptop via the s-
video connection. The image was much too large on the
screen. How can I reduce the image size?
A couple of things to know about the difference between PC monitors and TVs:
While the only limitation to the resolution of a PC display is the
capability of your graphics card and monitor, TVs have a set 'resolution'
that you can't change. That's oversimplifying it a little but there you
go...as far as an S-video output from a PC is concerned the resolution of
your display is scaled down to 720x576 (PAL) or 720x480 (NTSC).
Just to add a further complication, TVs overscan that image so that the
edges get lost in space. The amount that you lose varies from TV to TV (and
can be affected by your graphics card) but it's always safest to allow a
5-10% margin around the entire border of your slides.
