There could be any number of reasons, but the first thing I would check is if
the CD drive's autorun feature is disabled or enabled -- by default it should
be enabled.

Search on support.microsoft.com for your version of Windows for how to
ascertain and repair this feature. Of course, if the autorun part is not the
culprit, do get back with your version of PowerPoint and Windows so that we
can look at other options.

saved with package for cd.put new cd in, presentation doesnot come up

Please explain in more details what you have done, what didn't work and
which Powerpoint-Version you are using.

You used "Package for CD", put in a CD and burned the presentation on the
CD. Was it successful up to this? The presentation is on the CD and you can
see it there?

What did you do than? Did you try to start the presentation with a
doubleclick from the CD and the presentation doesn't start? Or do you want
to start the CD automatically and that doesn't happen?

using powerpoint 03.saved with package for cd.put new cd in, presentation doesnot come up
i saved a slide show w/package for cd. When I put the disk back in my
computer, the slide show did not come up automatically. I went into control
panel and into the e drive and there was an icon there for the slide show,
along with the song icons that i used. when i clicked on it it looked like
it was coming up and then nothing came up.

yes autorun is enabled. when i first put the cd back in computer and the
slideshow did not come up, i went into my e drive and the slide show was
listed there along with all the song icons that i used in the slideshow. also
listed there was an icon for autorun.

The fact that you can see the files in the CD along with the autorun.inf
file, the songs, and the presentation merely means that the CD was created
successfully.

The autorun.inf file has the info required to autorun the CD -- however, it
only uses that info if autorun is enabled on the system.

You also have a file called play.bat or similar in the CD -- can you
double-click that one and get back and let us know if it caused your
presentation to run?

tried clicking on playbat got a black screen. if autorun is shown up under
the drive letter, doesn't that mean autorun is enabled? also tried coping
again with a different brand cd. when i put the cd bck in, powerpoint viewr
screen shows up and goes away. I again go into the drive and the drive had
my title of my slide show and when i clicked on it nothing happened. I
didnot even get the icons that i got before. before when i put the disc in
and clicked on the drive letter, i got the icons for the slideshow, music,
autorun etc.
also, after seeing that it does not work, i remove the disc. i then get a
mesage that no disc in drive, insert disk. i took the disk out, why is it
asking me to insert disk. even if i hit cancel it will not go away.

i figured out how to get it to show up. i wasnt giving it enough time to
come up. since the file is large, i have to wait a good 5-7 minutes for the
presentation to start. however, it does not start up automatically. i have
to go to the drive and click on the file and still wait a few minutes.

another problem i have. when i put the disc in a different computer,(my
laptop), the presentation shows up but with no sound. can you help with that?
thanks

the songs were inserted in the slide show when the slide show was created.
i can put the disc back in the desktop(where the slideshow was created) and
it will play with songs, but if it is put on my laptop, it plays without the
songs. I tried the support sites and all it states about sound and slide
shows is to make sure you know wheather the songs are embeded or linked.
linked files need to be saved with the presentation file. but then it says,
but if you use package for cd, you do not have to worry about enbeded or
linked. if the files are linked , all i need to know is how to save my songs
with the presentation. I did this type of slide show a couple of years ago
and I remembered that i had a similar problem, i remember that the support
center told me how to save the sound w/ presentation and it worked.
