Hi...I am trying to setup a powerpoint slideshow for my daughter's
graduation party. I am working on a dell XP. I can't seem to find the
area of where I can setup the slide show to automatically advance by
itself (with the use of a timer) so people can just sit and watch. Is
there an extra program I need to have? I am using Microsoft PP 2003.
Thanks!

Do the following:
1. Select "Slide Show" | "Slide Transitions..." menu item. You should get a
"Slide Transition" pane - usually on the right.
2. Locate the "Advance slide" section in it and select "Automatically after"
box.
3. Set the required timing.
4. Click the "Apply to All Slides" button if you want the same timing to be
applied to all slides.

Now your slide show should progress automatically.

As Chiraq said

You might also want to save as a powerpoint show (save as and scroll down in
the save as type box) and also note that time you set in the transition after
box is the delay when there are no animations on the slide. If there are and
they take longer than the delay the slide will transition as soon as the
animations finish. ie if you want a say 5 second delay AFTER the slide is
complete you need to set the dealy to a value 5 seconds longer that the total
animation time

Hope that makes sense because it confuses a lot of folk!
