Hi,

My windows 2000 reboots itself whenever I try to open a
PPT file in "slide show" mode. The problems only happens
when the PPT file contains animation. Any idea how to
solve the problem? Thank you.

Jackie

That's not a bug, it's a feature. <g>

Jackie, do you know what kind of animation? GIF, Flash, AVI? If you can
isolate the kind of animation, the next question would be to see what
happens if you play that type of animation file outside of PowerPoint. Do
you still crash.

Also, you mention opening a PPT file in slide show mode. What happens if you
open the file normally and then run the show? Same result?

The "animations" include "fly-in" of titles, texts, etc.
They are not animated images. The PPT file I tested does
not have any image or video, only text.

I actually open the file first, then click "slide show"
button.

Updating video card driver didn't help. It could be some
other programs/services running on my computer that have
conflict with PPT. I am planning to reinstall windows.

Thanks.

Man, *that's* a link. :-)

I think we came to the conclusion that this was hardware (bad RAM, maybe) or
possibly BIOS-related.
