Sorry...I forgot my email address. Let me try this again.

How do I create a hot spot on a powerpoint slide> I would
like the ability to click on an area in the slide if asked
to blow up/present some additional info.

Can it be done?

What you do is create additional slides towards the end of your presentation
that have the "Blown-up" views on them and assign hyperlinks to buttons that
go to that slide. Remember to put a button on that slide that takes you
back to the desired slide when finished. What I do is the following:

1. Click the "Rectangle" object and draw a small rectangle over the object
you want to click on.
2. Right-click on the rectangle and select "Action Settings".
3. In the "Hyperlink to" dropdown, select "Slide" and select the slide you
want to go to.
4. Click the "Highlight Click" checkbox at the bottom of the dialog box.
Click OK when done.
5. With the rectangle selected, click the "Line Color and Fill Color" icons
on the Drawing toolbar and set them to "No Fill" and "No Color".
6. Go into Slide Show Mode to test out your button.

When you place your mouse over the rectangle your pointer changes to a "Hand
Pointer" that signifies a hyperlink. Click it to go to the desired slide.
Once again, remember to put a button to return as well. If you put this
"extra" slide in the middle of your presentation, remember to put a button
to skip over it if not needed using the same technique mentioned above.

Hope this helps!

Hello B,

If you are using PowerPoint 2002 or PowerPoint 2003 you can use the trigger
option in animation effects to have an one object appear and disappear when
another object (hot spot) is clicked.

Here's a page of some PowerPoint 2003 online training that describes how to
use the trigger option (in this case, specifically for playing a movie):

http://office.microsoft.com/training/Training.aspx?AssetID=RP010738481033

One current limitation of triggers is that they only work with a mouse
click event.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions as to
improved capabilties in PowerPoint slide show for what kinds of events can
be triggers and/or the types of things that can happen when a trigger event
occurs (without having to resort to VBA or add-ins so that it also works in
the PowerPoint Viewer), don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
