powerpoint should let format fonts all caps, like in word

I should be able to use all caps option to capitalize words when formatting
the fonts in powerpoint, just like in Microsoft; it is too time-consuming
otherwise.

You can customize the change case command onto any convenient toolbar or use the free
PPTools Starter Set (http://starterset.pptools.com) which includes a change case tool on a
handy toolbar.

You can type your text in a shape and format it all in caps by
selecting the shape on the slide, using format, Change Case, and using
the desired capitalization feature. If you want all caps in all text
you might consider formatting the slide master. Once that has been set
return to your slide and right click to get to slide layout. Choose the
one you want and have it apply to your slide.

I may have gotten that feature from the tools that Steve mentioned in
his post. I use those sort of things so often that I think they are
native to Powerpoint. Those tools are set in concrete on my machines.
 
You will be happy to know we can do this in PPT 2007.

It's because PPT 2007 gives us the same kind of font effects as in Word
(small caps, strikethrough, double underline, etc.)
http://www.echosvoice.com/2007.htm So you can go to View|Slide Master,
select the placeholder, and use the font dialog launcher to get to the Font
Effects and apply it to the placeholder.

POW! I feel like I am back in school. I learn more completely by being
wrong. Thought I had missed a step there with the master setting.
Thanks for the heads up.

In this case, it's both. There's a Change Case feature built into PPT but it
seemed clumsy to have to do

Format
Change Case
Select the one you think you want
(there's no preview button)
Click OK
Darn. That wasn't what I wanted.
Format
Change Case
Try another one
Click OK
Ah. That's better.

The PPTools one lets you go
