powerpoint setup

I would like to be able to run office 2000 and office 2007 on my home pc. I
want my office files that are in office 2000 to stay the way they are for 3
more months due to having wedding plans in office 2000. I do not want those
office 2000 files to be changed for 3 months.

If I put office 2007 on the home pc, will all the files be converted to
office 2007?
I am asking that questions since I just attended an msdn event today and won
a free version of office 2007.

You can install Office 2007, without losing anything you created in Office
2000. During installation you will be presented with the question what you
want to do with the previous version, upgrade or leave it installed. If you
upgrade Office 2000 will be removed, if you opt for leaving the previous
version you will have to Office versions on your PC. Once the wedding over,
you can remove the previous office version if you want.
In any event installing the new version will have no effect on the files you
made with Word 2000. They will remain intact.
 
If you open your office 2000 files in office 2007, it will run in
Compatibility Mode and not change your elements in orginal files. But
once you change something in your files in Office 2007, it may occur
compatibility problems sometimes.

You'd better made backup copies of your old files before you start
using Office 2007.
Alternatively you can transform your old Office 2000 files to other
formats to retain its original contents, such as Flash. Some
presentation tools can do this for you:

I cannot you of the compability issues in Office 2007, nor Microsoft.
 
You've gotten some other good advice, but I am going to differ from the
others. Because you got Office 2007 by chance, not because you need it, I
would strongly recommend putting it on ice for three months. Yes, there
are ways to preserve everything so the installation of Office 2007 could
be set up so that it doesn't interfere with your use of Office 2000, but
there are many things that can go wrong. For now, you've got no good
reason to upgrade and lots of good reason not to upgrade. In three
months, Office 2007 will still be there and any mistakes you make in the
installation won't have serious consequences.
