We have Microsoft XP and had Microsoft Office Small
Business 2003 installed when we purchased the system.
Currently putting together a presentation on powerpoint.
When save graph or chart with info we have entered, it
will not allow us to go back in and make changes.
Basically if we want to make a change it is having us
start from scratch each time. You can imagine our
frustration. When click on graph area of powerpoint slide,
an error pops up: "The server application, source file, or
item cant be found, or returned an unknown error. You may
need to reinstall the server application". The system is
only two weeks old and I have tried to reinstall Microsoft
Office with no luck. Please help

Echo, I always had that error - still have it. I posted about it and even
created a Camtasia movie of my error <g> - but nobody else could replicate
it.

To edit a graph, I open the same presentation in PowerPoint 2002! It works
well in that version.

help.

Just occurred to me that this FAQ needs to be updated for Office 2003, but I
think this may be the first time I've seen this error in conjunction with
that version...

I saw on the link you gave me it may be a problem with the
norton antivirus. We just purchased the notebook I am
having problems with and havent set up the wireless web on
it yet. Is there a way to allow me to complete and work
on the presentation until I can get the updates from
Norton (example: unistall Norton now and reinstall it
later?). Please let me know what i can do

If I were you, I would try disabling the Norton Office plug-in. I believe
there are instructions in one of the KB articles the FAQ site links to.
(That would be better than totally uninstalling Norton, I think.)
