My anti virus and spyware programs show my computer is clean, but my
PowerPoint files keep getting corrupted. There are 3 symptoms. 1- The
sequence of the slides keeps getting changed. 2- duplicate slides keep
appearing in the saved file. 3- Partial copies of my files are being created
using the same file name.

If anyone can help, thanks in advance

Interesting problem, I'm sure this is driving you a bit crazy.

I'm sure that you have updated the virus definitions and spyware updates and
re-run full system scans, but in case you have not, that should be your
first step. I would also try rebooting the computer if it has been more
than one day since it was completely shut down.

Here are a couple more things to run through.

1) Remove any PowerPoint add-ins that are loaded. (Tools => Addins => Remove
all of them) Note, some add-ins have special removal instructions, please
check those listed and follow the removal instructions provided by the
author.
2) Do a detect and repair (Help => Detect and repair)
3) Download and install all updates to Windows, Office, DirectX, your video
card and printer.

After all this is done, do a complete shut down and power off, then reboot
the system. Please post back after you have done these and let us know if
the problem has been resolved.

Do you have fast saves turned on? Check under Tools--> Options, save tab. If
it is on, turn it off. Then open the presentations and save them under new
names.

In addition to the suggestions from Bill and Kathy, I'd suggest searching
your harddrive for *.PPT files -- just to ensure there isn't some unknown
(or forgotten) cache of files you're pulling from by mistake. I've seen this
happen before -- it's really easy to end up pointing to a folder you didn't
realize you were pointing to -- and it can be quite perplexing until you
figure out what's really going on.
