I have a powerpoint presentation on my desk top. It is
about 30 pages long. It takes over 10min for this
presentation to start. How can I get it to load faster to
run. When it runs, it runs correctly. When I was making
the presentation sometimes it would tell me that virtual
memory was low and the computer would run slow for a bit.
Does this have someting to do with it? If so, do I need
to buy more to get it to load faster from the desk top?
And how do you buy more virtual memory?
Thank you

Double check the orginal files you inserted, i.e. pictures, or sounds. Make
sure these are made as small as they can be before you place them inside the
presentation. If you have optimized your mb size of your file all you can,
then you can also look for harware memory...you can't really buy virtual
memory...the virtual memory is a setting in your system you can access from
the control panel. Sounds like you just put too much byte size on your
items placed into your presentation...If you need this much size for your
presentations on a regular basis you may want to consider a new machine with
more memory...but just remember, if the people your sending this too, have
older machines also...the new machine isn't going to help them.

Some worm viruses can cause a machine to be slow too tho...I'm seeing this
more these days.

How large is the presentation file-size wise?

Is it only this presentation which is slow to open, or is it all
presentations?

One thing which has affected open times is the Norton AntiVirus Office
plugin. If you're using Norton, you might want to try disabling that
(you'll still be protected) and see if that helps.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329820 has
instructions in section 2 on how to disable this.
