powerpoint not updating links!!!!

hi all,

i have a presenttaion that was built using office 2000 , which has
links set-up to update etc... but when i have had XP installed and
also office 2003 they nmo longer work , i know that photo editor is no
longer included and the picture manager does not have the same
functions etc...

what happeens is that i get link not available , and when you got
edit/ links

it shows the file type as being photo editor.... on clicking and
selecting update now i get "linked file not available can't be
updated"

is there anyway to take away this photo editor association ???? or fix
this problem

i have been racking my brian and unable to find a solution...

dont really want to have to redo the presentation as there are a few
to be done

It should be enough to click the image to select it then ungroup it.

Answer YES when it barks and whines about it being an embedded or linked
picture or whatever.
