I have published my powerpoint presentation as a webpage and that works fine.
However, when I click on a link in my presentation, it goes to the page
without opening a new page (if I add target=_blank" then it replaces my "
with a spaces and says the page cannot be found) and I cannot get back to the
presentation page I was on. It starts again at the beginning slide if I use
the back button.

I once saw a similar post like yours but not yet found a solution to
this question.
I guess it is due to the strange html coding when you save it as html
webpage.

Maybe you would like to try this alternative to show a PowerPoint on a
webpage: Convert it to flash.

Read this guide to use a conversion tool to insert a PowerPoint in a
webpage

and now my links open in a new window. thanks!
