PowerPoint Images Not Showing

..JPG images in PowerPoint show up in my left-hand "Slides" summary,
but not in my main viewing window when I'm editing presentations in
"Normal" mode. In "Slide Show" mode, everything shows up, but just not
in "Normal."

This doesn't happen on other computers, and I don't think it's a
loading issue because it doesn't matter how long I keep it open.

I use PowerPoint 2003 (Part of MS Office Professional Edition 2003),
and the images were originally inserted using "Insert > Picture > From
File..."

Please help me if you can. Thanks!

I think that will fix it, but if not, make sure you have at least Service
Pack 1 installed for Office 2003. You can go to Help | Check for Updates in
PowerPoint to get the latest updates. (We're up to SP2 now for Office
2003 -- that will also often resolve "missing pictures" issues.)
