I am now getting a similar situation in Word, and am therefore concerned
that corruption is spreading! Appreciate helpful responses soonest. Thanks!

Step 1 is to run Office Diagnostics.

You're using Office 2007, right?

If you can get any of the Office applications open, go to Office Button |
<application> Options | Resources and run Office Diagnostics. If not, then
open your programs area (Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features,
depending on your version of Windows) in the Windows Control Panel. Then
choose "Change." Opt for the repair installation.

Kevin, do you have any Addins installed? Especially PDF-maker-Addins can
cause a lot of trouble. If so I would deactivate them and try if the error
occurs again.
