Mr Andrews

I have MS Office xp for Students and Teachers and each
time I start MS Poewrpoint it hangs when opening. I have
uninstalled/reinstalled the program several times and
installed the patches from the MS site.

Running this with MS Win XP, plenty of memory etc. Word
and excel seem to open and operate without problems -
just issues with Powerpoint.

Anyone know why this may be the case and how to rectify
it??

Do you get an error message? What happens if you give it a few minutes to
open?

Try renaming your *.PCB file to *.OLD That's the toolbar, and PPT will
recreate it when it starts up again.

Also try renaming any *.PPA files to *.OLD and see if PPT starts then.
PPA files are PPT Addins. If PPT starts after renaming those, you can
close PPT and rename them back to *.PPA one at a time to isolate the
problem file.
