About 45 minutes after being in slideshow, a white arrow
pops up on the screen and freezes the presentation. I've
reinstalled the program (PowerPoint 2002), reinstalled
video drivers (Toshiba Satellite Pro), turned off the
pointer, ran the slideshow from a CD vs. the hard drive
and talked to various MS support professionals. I could
really use a solution about now. Many thanks, J

Hi,

maybe this is covering old ground, but first I would make sure you have done
all of these:

Do this before using PowerPoint :

Another option is to make sure you have latest video drivers, and maybe
adjust hardware acceleration:

Beyond that, I have seen this happen. I isolated it to a slide.
Unfortunately, PowerPoint shows seem to loose something over time. Or so I
believe. I would normally recommend you force the slideshow to restart but
that is impractical after only 45 minutes.

Anyway, if those options don't help, please holler back.

Does it work any better if you:
- Turn off background virus checking?
- Turn off automatic checking for email?
- Turn off all other background tasks?
- Run the show with absolutely nothing else running?
