I want to show employer past presentations with 4 slide handouts. But the
slides don't get very big (not as big as they could be). Please suggest
solution. Thank you.

This link leads to a hand out wizard(HOW) by Shyam Pillai. There is a
trial time for you to use and evaluate HOW it meets your needs. Much of
what you mentioned in your post is available with you having of the
control on HOW slides are sized, oriented, spaced, printed, etc.

If it did what it says on the label that would be great and very close to
what I need!
Unfortunately when I try it, it leaves out chunks of some slides. Many of
my slides include multiple images and HOW omits some of the images when
preparing the handout - so not much use for me anyway! I am using PPT97.

Is there anything more reliable?

You could copy them from Slide Sorter view and paste them four-per-page into
a new presentation and then print that one-per-page.
Not very elegant but it works!
