when i click to open Power Point, this message comes
in "PowerPoint found an error it can't correct. You should
save the presentation, quit, and then restart PowerPoint".

I have been to the microsoft webiste and tried there
solution , which explained this error as a corruption in
the reigstry of windows. Thereafter i have followed the
steps specified, deleted Power Point from the sytem's
registry through "regedit" and reinstalled power point.
Even repeated the same thing for the whole Ms Office
package but after reinstallation i found the same error.

As a last resort, i even re-installed windows 98 again
(w/o formatting the C drive)on my existing Win 98
operating system so that the reinstallation would correct
any errors in the system registry but after
reeinstallation too the same error is coming.

All my other office applcations like word and excel and
running fine. But whenever i try to open Power Point the
above error comes in.

Please advise any body ???????????

Try deleting your *.PCB file.

If that doesn't work, try renaming any *.PPA files to *.PPO or *.OLD or
something. If PPT starts then, you can rename the *.PPA files back to
*.PPA one at a time in order to isolate the problem.

Try deleting your *.PCB file.
But before you do all that - try this!!

SYMPTOMS
When you click the Font list on the Formatting toolbar,
you receive the following error message:

PowerPoint found an error it cannot correct.
When you click OK, PowerPoint quits and all your unsaved
work is lost.
CAUSE
This error message appears if you are running PowerPoint
on a computer with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, and the
default printer on the computer is a network printer that
is currently unavailable.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, add a local printer driver
and set it as the default printer. To do this, follow
these steps:
On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click
Printers.
Double-click the Add Printer icon to start the Add Printer
Wizard.
Follow the instructions in the wizard to add a local
printer.
When the Add Printer Wizard is completed, right-click the
newly-added printer and then click Set as Default on the
shortcut menu.
