I have a friend which sends me pesentations in PowerPoint
but I do not have Power Point installed on my home
computor. Is there a way to open these file in a read
only mode?
 
Following the links from this site takes me to a page that appears to be a
Microsoft page. But on beginning the download, Norton finds the sasser
virus in this down load!!!!

So now what?????

Disable Norton AntiVirus, perhaps? It's a known troublemaker.
At the very least, be certain you've updated it.

What's the exact message it gives you?

You can download the PowerPoint viewer and you will then
be able to view the presentations from your friend and
this viewer is free.
