Received PPT file from colleague in China. I balked at the file size
(81mb for 24 pages). Reduced the resolution of images but barely put a
dent in it. Am I to assume that he embedded the font and it's taking up
THAT much room?

The file is not in final format as yet. Was thinking after finalized,
do a "save as" and save embedded characters only. Would this help
reduce file size? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi Ted,

Here: http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00062.htm also;
Do you have Adobe Illustrator (AI)? Best program to reduce any file size and
you actually visual check it. If no (AI) then PPT can only Change Resolution
down ONLY to 96 dpi. If you uses Adobe Photoshop and others similar
program to do edit -- did you delete unnecessary files? Also; not embed BUT
uses Paste Special for all special Fonts. Also; have you Crop and
Compress Pictures? And lastly; what music format used and have you
reduce it?

We cannot peek over your shoulder, so; the best answer you can gives are
the best reply we can gives. And if you don't ask we already presume you
knew it. Let us have a better dialog AND if you're happy with any one us
--- please give Thanks to that poor fellow. I know others News Group cared
to says ---Thanks.

Hopes you cared as we,

If a Chinese font is embedded, it'd take up a fair chunk, but probably nothing
near that much.

It could be image sizes, sounds, possibly revision tracking. The link Rino
sent you to will explain a lot of that though

MYSTERY SOLVED:

Three to four images were actually MS Office Drawing Objects. I just
copied & pasted as a JPG. Entire filesize went down to about 7mb.

First round I right clicked and reduced the resolution of the images to
"web" but was given no indication that it was a a drawing object. Now I
know what to look for if file size is outrageous.

Thanks all for your advice folks.
