My powerpoint 2007 does not display text in the main screen. It is only
displayed on the preview slides as i type. I have checked all the settings I
could but cant find the setting that would cause this. So i reinstalled
Office but the same thing happens.

Anyone with an idea of how to solve this?

Hi Sydney

"I have checked all the settings" is a dangerous statement. There are many
things that can be going wrong, so lets break it down simply and go from
there.

First, lets define the expectations.
You opened PowerPoint
You opened or created a presentation
You started the slide show (F5)
And now you expect to see the slide you created on your main desktop
display, correct?

Are you running a laptop or a system with dual screen ability?
The show may be being displayed were you can't see it (alternate
display)

We'll start there and build ...

By cheking the settings,i went into powerpoint and checked for anything that
could have been changed at the application level and didnt find anything.

ok,so I open powerpoint, open a new slide and type something on the main
screen. It should appear on the main screen and the preview slides at the
side right? It jsut appears on the previw slides. Nothing appears on the main
screen,

It does have dual screen ability and thats what i checked first but that
isnt the problem.Have checked and adjusted the graphics acceleration but no
luck.

Is so weird, have you seen that before?

Hi Lucy,

Thanks for your reply. Ive set the graphics accelerator back. I have not had
any problem printing any office documents-could this still be a problem with
incompatible drivers?

Hi Sydney

2007 uses the printer driver to display stuff on screen (don't ask me!) so
if you don't have one on your local machine that PowerPoint likes things get
really weird. Try installing the test driver suggested in the link to see if
it is a printer driver problem. I know it sounds strange, but you're just
going to have to trust me on this one :-)
