Powerpoint does not save photos

I can import photos into powerpoint 2003. I can save the presentation
fine, and re-open I on my computer but when I try to email the
presentation only the title page shows up, no photos.

When I try to compress the photos the photos are already compressed,
so the photos are small enough. the photos being imported are JPG
photos.

here is the odd thing that is different from other photos;

If I right check on the photo > Formatpicture>Picture>Compress
Pictures

Normally I get to choose either 1)selected picturess or 2) all
pictures in document

In this ppt file the "Selected pictures" is grayed out and my only
option is "All pictures in document"

Any suggestions are welcome
