PowerPoint crashes on too many triggers

I have created a slide that includes 17 animations each of which starts via a
trigger.
1 of the animations causes a textbox to appear. The other 16 animations
cause a shape to change fill color when another shape is clicked.

If I go directly to the slide in question, I can trigger about 8 animations
and then I receive the error message. If I start the show from the very first
slide, PP crashes as soon as the problem slide opens.

I am using PowerPoint 2007 on Vista. I have lots of other slides that
include similar animations but in fewer numbers.

This sounds really weird. I have a jeopardy board that has probably 3 times
that many trigger animations, and it doesn't crash. I'd probably try to find
a copy of 2003 and round-trip through HTML to weed out the woollies.

Hm. oart.dll is an Office Art file. I'd definitely run the file through the
HTML round-trip, especially if other files aren't crashing on you.

You might also run Office Diagnostics -- Office Button | PPT Options |
Resources. Run Diagnostics there.

Hi Echo - thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I tried the
round trip but that didn't work for me. I also tried the Office Diagnoses
and it said everything was OK. However, when you indicated that it might be
the Office Art file that caused the problem, I created a new slide and did
not apply the bevels to my shapes and that solved it. You are my hero du
jour! Thank you SO MUCH.

Wow. So bevels on too many shapes with triggers cause the crash? I'm gonna
have to see if I can repro that!

Actually, I think it must have been some kind of bug on the original slide.
When I recreated the slide from scratch, I did stop before stylizing the
shapes. However, after I read this reply, I went and added the bevels and
the slide is still fien. There must have been a bug in the first one that
wasn't recreated in the second one. If you want the "buggy" slide let me
know and I can upload it somewhere for you.

Oh, that's great news. No worry about the "buggy" slide -- I'll just
consider it an aberration. :-)
