Powerpoint & Chart Wizard - How to access it?

I would like to create a bar chart using "Chart Wizard" in PowerPoint.
However, I cannot get to that tool. Whenever I click on the chart icon it
automatically inserts an existing chart I once imported into a presentation
many months ago.

How can I clear the chart (if that's necessary) and get access to the Chart
Wizard option in order to create a new chart?

Any help is appreciated.

PowerPoint doesn't have a "chart wizard." Excel does. You can do your chart
in Excel with the chart wizard, then copy it and paste it onto yoru PPT
slide.

To reset your default chart in PPT, insert a chart, then, with the chart
open, right-click and choose Chart Type. Choose a chart and click "set as
default chart." Or you can format a chart the way you want, then right-click
and choose Chart Type, then the Custom Types tab and choose User-defined at
the bottom. Make your chart a user-defined chart, then you can set that as
the default chart type.

Note that default chart types are specific to the computer -- they don't
travel with the template or presentation.

It's not part of PowerPoint or MSGraph, the little program that PPT calls up to
make charts in versions prior to 2007.

To use the chart wizard, use Excel to create the chart then copy/paste the
chart into PPT.
