Hi everyone

Silly me didn't back up and now when I attempt to access the powerpoint file
an error message appears that says "powerpoint can't read:..." and then the
file name (which is correct, incidently, with .ppt at the end).

The file is saved in a network and is not accessable anywhere else in the
office either.

Any suggestions would be VERY appreciated!

Thanks, Sarah.

Sarah,

What Echo Said....but also........
)which is correct, incidently, with .ppt at the end)

There is a slim change the file has a double extension. e.g. mypresentation.ppt.ppt

This may stop powerpoint opening the file ( I've not checked this, it's just a thought)

If you start windows explorer (not internet explorer), navigate to the directory where you file is saved.

(If you can see the file copy it before you do any thing with it)

You may have to go "tools" menu > Folder options > View...then untick hide extension for known file types.

Then if you can see your file. click it once, then "file menu > rename"
