I developed an add-in in Excel and Power Point XP. In Power Point when
user double-clicks on add-in for opening it he receives a message
"PowerPoint can't read C:\......\myaddin.ppa" and then nothing. I
asked him to open Power Point and then open my add-in, which works
fine. What could be causing this ?

Clarkou,
Why would you want an add-in to load on double-click?
The behaviour is dependant on the registry information.

Sorry, my mistake. The user tries to open the add-in from Windows
Explorer by double-clicking on it, or from the shortcut on desktop.
Then the error appears.

I don't know a whole lot about addins, but I believe the point of one is
that it gets installed via Tools/Addins. Addins in PPT don't work like
macros, nor do they work like regular PPT files.

Perhaps have a look at http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00031.htm This
explains that you cannot open and edit PPA files. It also explains how
to load an addin.
