Are the movies created with Plus! DME Photo Story
compatible for insertion into Powerpoint slide shows?
I don't know. My guess is that this product probably uses a nonstandard
codec when creating the movies, and PPT has issues with nonstandard
codecs. Even though it's MS software, it doesn't mean they created it
with use in PPT in mind.
You can check
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm to learn
an easy way to test those files for compatibility with PPT. You will
also learn about standard codecs. If Photo Story gives you the option to
save/export/create movie using a standard codec, use it.
Ah, wait. Although the info above is correct, Photo Story WMVs should
work with PPT. I just downloaded the Friends sample WMV from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/plus/dme/Photo.asp, inserted it into
PPT 2003, and it works just fine on my computer.
Now, that doesn't mean it will work just fine on your system, but it's a
good sign, anyway. All I can do is encourage you to try some of those
sample files. If they don't play for you, holler back.
