Hi. I recently got a new computer with Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003 on it. Its O/S is XP Professional. I would like to know if I can still install and use my Powerpoint 97 without running into any problems or program conflicts. I would rather not upgrade to Powerpoint 2003 if I do not have to. Can anyone answer my question? Thanks

Yes, you can run PPT 97 on Windows XP alongside Office 2003 (any version, including Basic).

Best practices include installing oldest to newest, so uninstall Office 2003 Basic (make sure you have the installation CDs, though), install PPT 97, and then reinstall Office 2003.

Install PPT 97 and Office 2003 to different folders. I think that they may be by default placed in folders with different names (specified by MS during the installation), but I'm not positive of that, so I'd recommend doing a custom install so you can choose what folder the different versions will be installed to.
