Hi. I just had office 97 installed on my home computer,
and I am having some problems I never had with with other
editions or on other machines.

1) I can't seem to get what is "Normal View" in the other
editions. That is the view where there are numbered
rectangles on the left side. When you click on one of
those rectangles, you continue to see the rectangles, but
you also see a large-size picture of the slide which you
can then edit. Clicking on the different rectangles is a
way to navigate among the slides.

The only similar view I can find in 97 is one that only
has a very small view of the slides on the right side.
(You cannot edit these.)

Does this "Normal View" not exist in 97? (It is not
listed on the "View" Menu.

2) Also, when I try to click on the "drawing"toolbar,
nothing happens when I click on the icon for changing the
color of the text. Is there some way I can change the
color of just selected text.

Thanks alot. Microsoft really doesn't support this version
anymore...

1) You are right, the "Normal" View was introduced with PowerPoint 2000. It
isn't available with PowerPoint 97.

2) Select the text and press the arrow beside the "A" icon. This will open
up a menu of color choices. Select one from these and the selected text will
switch to this color.
