Hello all,
There appear to be 2 versions of the PowerPoint Viewer, version 1 and
version 2 (those may be the versions of the PowerPoint Viewer Installer).
From what I understand, PowerPoint Viewer 97 used to support Windows 95, yet
the new version does not list compatibility with said version. If the change
was only with the installer, this is unclear. I am seeing reports on the
newsgroup of no sound on Windows 95 (again, if it is still PowerPoint 97
Viewer, why is this the case -old versions worked).
Of bigger concern to us is a reported problem installing PowerPoint 97
Viewer on Windows ME. I am now assuming that we are shipping the OLD version
of the installer, one that is probably not compatible with ME (again, I am
unsure as to whether the installer is incompatible with ME or the product
itself).
Is anyone able to shed any light on the different versions of PowerPoint
97 Viewer? The different versions of the installer for PowerPoint 97 viewer?
Looking through Microsoft's knowledgebase I find no helpful information,
other than that the installer is dated 1/3/2003, is version 2, and is not
compatible with Windows 95. The properties tab for the newest downloaded
version lists File Version 6.0.2800.1106, while the version we are shipping
lists File Version 4.71.30.1. Are these the installer versions? Viewer
versions? Where can we find out about this.

Thank you for your help
