PowerPoint 2007 - What happened to Animation Schemes?

I'm really floored on this one. Maybe someone can shed some light. I have
been using PowerPoint since the '97 version and have been teaching it since
the 2000 version. The Animation Schemes feature (which debuted in the 2002
version) was a great new feature, I felt. I am floored that this feature did
not make the transition from 2003 to 2007! From viewing the online 2003 to
2007 interactive commands reference, they instruct you to click the
Animations Tab on the Ribbon, then click the Animate list in the Animations
group. Okay, that works if I set it for each slide invidividually. So, I
could set it on the Master. But, what if I don't want every "bulleted"/Title
and Text slide to have animation? Again, I'm dumbfounded. Can I anyone shed
some light? Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
 
You can set animations (and, I think, transitions) on the slide master, and
this will function pretty much the way animation schemes did.

My guess is that not enough people knew what they were and used them. And I
bet MS support got lots of calls about it -- for example, it wasn't very
intuitive how you would have to "copy effects to slide" in order to modify
the effect just one slide.

I think it's just a feature that was okay, probably could have been much
better, and was difficult to implement with the new master/layout/custom
placeholders structure. Who knows, maybe it will be back in a future
version. You might want to post a suggestion to bring back animation
schemes.

(For the present, you could create two masters. Make one with appropriate
layouts, apply the animations to it. Then duplicate that master -- you
should get all the layouts, too. Then rename to "no animation" or something
and remove the animation from that master and layouts. Now when you go to
New Slide, you'll have non-animated layouts to choose from along with the
animated version. If you make a slide then change your mind, simply apply
the appropriate slide layout. Yes, I know it's convoluted, but it should
work.)

Thanks for the reply! I do hope they bring that feature back in some form
another. For now, I think the suggestion you made will work best.
