I have upgraded from Office 2003 to Beta2 and whenever i want to create a new
presentation, I just get back on same page, where it says that i can create a
presentation. It just keeps comming back.
Whenever i open an old presentatio of 2003, it just won't open. This happens
when i'm opening it from explorer and from powerpoint itself. All the other
programs are working OK.
I i install Beta2 together with 2003, the old powerpoint works, but the beta
doesn't.

I'm running the full suite of Office 2007 both at work and at home. At work I
just have 2007, at home I have both 2007 and 2003, loaded. I am not
experiencing your problem at all. Maybe you should reload the latest beta
version.

Have you tried the repairs and diagnostics tools in File (round Office
button) | PPT Options? You might give those a shot.

How are you trying to create a new presentation? (I'm not sure what
screen/page you're referring to, so if you can give us step by step instrux,
that would be helpful.)

What happens when you try to open existing 2003 presentation? Do you get an
error message or anything?

I have tried to repair PPT (a couple of time) but that didn't work. I also
run the diagnostics and it didn't find any errors.

I'll tell step by step what i do and what happens.
1. I open PPT and i it opens no new PPT like word or excel. I just get a
black background, if there are no open powerpoints.
2. I then choose to create a new presentation and i get the screen where i
can pick a template or a new blank presentation. If i choose to create a
blank presentation, I get the same screen back where i can choose a template.
It just blinks. This also happens when I open a template.
3. If I open a presentation of powerpoint2003 nothing happens. I get the
black background. I just doesn't open.

If i download a template at the samescreen where i can choose to create a
blank presentation, i get the following error:
"Powerpoint was unable to displa some of the text, images....... on slides
in the file, "filename.pot", because they have become corrupt.....
And i says something about to use Save As to make sure it opens in olders
versions of powerpoint.

I also tried to re-install office beta2, but did not work either.

Thank you for these very precise repro steps, Edwin. I now understand better
the problem you were describing. Unfortunately, I can't imagine what's
causing it, and you've tried most of the troubleshooting steps I would have.

The only way I know to force PPT to remain open without a presentation --
even a blank one -- being open is to go to File (round Office button) | PPT
Options and in the Advanced list (Display section) uncheck "show all windows
in taskbar." Somehow that doesn't sound like the issue here, though.
"Powerpoint was unable to displa some of the text, images....... on slides
in the file, "filename.pot", because they have become corrupt.....

This is a very odd error.

Do you have any add-ins installed? Maybe one of them is conflicting and
causing these problems.

You know, you might also want to see if turning down your hardware
acceleration helps. I know it sounds weird, but it won't hurt to try. See
the instructions here: How to set graphics hardware acceleration back

Microsoft announced today that the Beta 2 Technical Refresh will be
available on September 14 (tomorrow). I think you might want to just stop
trying to troubleshoot this on Beta 2 and just install the TR tomorrow and
see if that takes care of it.

Thanks for the replay.
I was planning to wait for that Technical Refresh and hope that will help.
If that doesn't work, I'll search further.
