My son states he can't install powerpoint 2003 on his new laptop I just
purchased with windows media center operating system. Is this correct? If
so, what version of powerpoint does he need? He really just needs to be able
to view presentations from his professor. Will viewer provide the needed fix?

Why does he think he can't install PPT 2003 on Windows MCE? MCE is just
another flavor of Windows XP, and Office 2003 applications should work on
it. Is he running into errors?

But yes, the Viewer is designed to view presentations, and if that's all he
needs, it should be just fine.

Would he lie to you??? <g>

Let's put it this way, he *should* be able to install it on that version of
Windows but apparently something's preventing it. We'll need more info from him
to work that out. Does he see any error messages or ... well, what exactly
happens to let him know that it's not working?

Yes ... to view and/or print PPT files, all he needs is the viewer
