I am trying to find a way to let a viewer enter
information into a powerpoint as text that will then
appear in other places in the presentation. IE..enter your
name...name then appears in other places in the
presentation.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

If none of the suggestions provided give you the functionality that you
were looking for or, if you (or anyone else reading this message) have
suggestions for how and why you think PowerPoint should provide this
functionality (or make it easier), don't forget to send your feedback (in
YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

My company has a red hot idea for an emerging market. We were selected by General Motors to come up with a solution for them for a multimillion dollar problem. They want it solved with 12 to 24 months. We have made significant progress in designing the product which will use Microsoft CE for the operating system and powerpoint for the development tool, Microsoft Visual Basic and barcode scanners. The customers for this product are tier ones and tier two suppliers to General Motors and they are being forced to buy from us. They must buy with 90 days of having been listed as a problem. We are given the list on a daily basis. We are very excited about the entire project, because the final product will be owned by us and we are open to sell it to whom ever else we choose. Pretty cool huh? Do you suppose you could help us get the last of the roadblocks taken down. I am sure that powerpoint will work for what I want to do, but I am not sure how to make it do it. We have all the rest of the product done, and delivered to a few beta sights. We just need this sales tool for developing the sequencing and we will be ready to fly. HELP!!!

It sounds to me like you should be looking to hire a consultant to help
you iron out the last few kinks. This is not an ad because I don't
generally do that kind of consulting work, but I think that some others
in this group do. Since you seem to be leaning to the VBA side of
things, you might want to look for some posts in here from some of the
VBA experts (Shyam Pillai and Steve Rindsberg come to mind, but there are
others) and check with them to see if they do consulting. This newsgroup
is a good place to get you started, but for a multimillion dollar
project, you probably want to drop a few bucks to get some dedicated time
from an expert. Note that I only "know" these people through this group,
so I can tell you that these people often give good answers to questions
here, but I have no knowledge of the quality of their consulting work.
