Powerpoint 2003 trial version

I received the Microsoft Office 2003 60-day trial version with my pc and I
didn't have any problems installing the software. However, when I try to use
powerpoint, I receive an error message that the wizard cannot detect an
internet connection. I have tried for over 3 hours now, thinking it could
have been a momentary issue, yet it is not allowing me to use it. The
powerpoint trial version cannot be activated by telephone and the tech
support is rather expensive. I have already made sure that I am not trying
to access the viewer only and it is the actual powerpoint software. Any
ideas?

How long have you had PPT? In other words, has your 60-day trial expired?

If so, you probably won't be able to use it until you purchase it; is your
internet connection active and it just can't locate it for some reason? For
example, can you browse the web from this PC?

I haven't used one of these trial deals, but I'd be a bit skeptical of any offer
that doesn't include a CD you can install from. Sooner or later you'll need it.
If you've decided you want Office, I'd have a look to see what it'll cost to
buy a regular package rather than activating your trial deal.
 
The trial came on a CD with the pc. I have had my pc about 30 days and I
just installed the Microsoft Office 60-day trial a little less than 1 week
ago. I'm able to access the internet without any problem. I just tried to
activate the trial again and received the same error message even though I am
on the internet right now.
 
Do you have a product code to activate with?

I haven't used the trial versions, either, but I think activation is what
you have to do once you actually buy the software.

activating/converting your trial version.

Looks to me like it'll cost $399 to do this, and I'm unclear whether that gets
you a CD or not. You can pick up a boxed copy of Office 2003 at a reliable
online dealer for 40 or 50 bucks less. I just checked at PC Connection but
there are others.

And just for the record, I wouldn't try to convert the trial to a paid
version. I would uninstall the trial version and install the paid version.
Apparently "converting" from trial to paid can result in quite a few weird
issues and frustrations.
