I'm having problems recording a Powerpoint narration. All sound
recordings in Powerpoint, whether done with "record narration" or
"record sound" end up with serious background noise. Other recording
applications - Windows sound recorder or Guitar Tracks Pro - allow
recording voice with extreme clarity, but Powerpoint is horrible! One
more thing: when I go Record Narration > Set Microphone Level I get a
Visual C++ runtime error attributed to powerpnt.exe.

Any suggestions? I'm using an M-Audio Delta 66 interface with Behringer
Eurorack UB802.

Try recording in PPT and choose the Link option for sound files.
You could then open up the recorded sound file, add a new track, re-record your
narration, delete the original track and save the file atop the original.
