Hi, I have a slide with a number of bullet points (all within one frame).
How do I set it up so that each time I click, it brings up the next bullet
point, and dims the previous point? Is this called customisation or is it
called transition? Many thanks.

Good Morning Trish,

Transitions are how one moves between slides, animations are things that
happen within a single slide.

You want to create a custom animation for the text box that contains the
bulleted items. But to accurately tell you how to do this, we need to know
what version of PowerPoint you are using.

Could you reply to us with your PowerPoint version, for example - 2000,
2002, 2003(XP), 2007 or are you using one of the Mac versions?

Bill - the answer's in the subject ;-)

Trish - you can use an animation scheme: slide show -> animation schemes ->
appear & dim I think is what you're after. You can use 'apply to all slides'
to apply to all (or add to master slide view -> master -> slide master then
apply scheme. This will use the scheme for all slides & any new ones you add).

OK, Duh! Sorry, didn't read the subject line very well.

If the bullets are in the main "title" text box for the slide, than you can
not bring them in individually line by line.

However, if they are in any other text box (including the subtitle), you can
....
=> select the text box
=> right click and select Custom Animation
=> Click add effect button at the top
=> Select any of the entrance animations

If the text comes in all at once (not line by line), you may need to ...
=> Select the animation in the task pane on the right
=> Use the pulldown on the right side to select Effect Options
=> Change the Text Animations (tab) to "Group by: 1st level paragraphs"
