PowerPoint 2003 compatibility

If I create a file in PowerPoint 2003 will I be able to
open it in an older version of PowerPoint? If PowerPoint
is on a Macintosh and I create a file on a PC will the
Macintosh computer recognize it?

Yes, yes and yes. A PPT file can be opened in any version, BUT if you use
newer animations and slide transitions they will not work in the older
versions. Same goes for PC-to-Mac compatibility, content will be there but
animations and slide transitions will not.
