After creating presentations in PPT 2002 (XP
Professional), files need to be saved in PPT 97. Done
that. When opened, however, the animation is not
correct. Can I revise animation in 2002 to convert
properly to 97 or can I load PPT 97 software and not lose
my PPT 2002 program.

Janet,

Files created in powerpoint 2002/xp should just open in powerpoint 97
without you saving them as anything special.

However, powerpoint 97 support any of the new features (e.g. wipes) of
powerpoint 2002/xp. So you can either turn off the new features in ppt 2002
(tools>options).

Or you can install powerpoint 97...but the recommended procedure is to
install the oldest software first (i.e. ppt 97 then ppt 2002/xp)

Also it's best to install them in different directories
e.g.
c:\program files\microsoft office-2002\
c:\program files\microsoft-office-97\

Not really. the animations that you use in 2002 are not available in 97. If you need to have your presentation operate properly in earlier versions 97/2000, you first need to click on Tools | Options | Edit | Check mark the items under 'Disable new features'

you'll find an excellent list, which animations of PPT 2002 are available in
2000 (and 97, too) and work, on Echo's pages: www.echosvoice.com/gotchas.htm

Kind regards,
