Powerpoint 2002 - movie problems

Hello.

I got a presentation with an avi-file in it.
The file starts using a computer with w2k and pp 2002
(sp1). When I try the same presentation on a computer with
w2k and pp 2002 (sp2) the avi-file don't start.

When I try to insert the same avi-file in a new
presentation I get an error message saying that pp doesn't
support that kind of file. I can use other avi-files
though.

I find it strange that the presentation works on some
computers but not on others. I've tried to update the
video drivers and the DirextX. None of it worked. I also
upgraded the media player. Result: none.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Thanks for the answer. I upgraded the mpeg codec and it
worked after that.

Probably that AVI uses a codec that's either not available on the PPT
2002 machine, or the MCI settings on that 2002 machine have been
hijacked by another media player.

As a test, go to Start/Run and type in mplay32.exe Open the AVI with
that. Does it play?
