PowerPoint 2002 and MPEG files

Has anyone encountered MPEG files that play in media
player but when they are imported into PowerPoint, a
white screen flashes and the movie doesn't play?

I have some MPEG files that do play and others that
don't. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with file
size or memory limitations. I don't think the files are
corrupt because I keep replacing them with originals and
nothing changes.

thanks,

Windows Media Player isn't used by PowerPoint. The true test of whether a
file will behave in PowerPoint is to go to Start > Run and type mplay32.exe
to run the MCI player in Windows 2000 or XP. If it plays in the player,
then it should play in PowerPoint. The MCI player is called mplayer.exe if
you are running Windows 98 or ME.
