Powerpoint 2000

Hi,

We are running MS Office 2000 on windows xp desktops.

Due to group polocies in place for student users they do not have access to
the C: drive. This is causing an issue as when they go to apply design
template to a presentation it comes up with an error stating drive c: cannot
be found.

Is it at all possible to alter the installed templates location to a network
share ? or is it set in stone ?

I have relocated the user and workgroup templates using group policy this
works fine.

You can place a shortcut in the template folder pointing to the actual
folder where the user has their accumulated templates. See

If they can't see the templates 'cause they're not allowed to see the C ...
cough ... wouldn't they also be unable to see the shortcut?

Might be worth checking where it currently wants to look for templates, then
do a reg search for that path.

The Office Resource Kit on MSDN might be the best place to start. Here's
the one for Office 2000, there's also an XP one.
