Does anyone have any idea why when this one person
doubleclicks in slide sorter view in powerpoint 2000 it
doesn't switch back to normal view?

I've already uninstalled office and deleted the powerpoint
folder under the documents and settings folders. I am
unable to delete the office folder under program files
because this person has some other office products like
visio and project installed.

This should correct the problem:

Maybe I didn't explain the problem well enough, the problem
isn't that the files open in the wrong mode.

The problem occurs when you are working in ppt 2000 and
switch to the slide sorter view. Generally in slide sorter
view you can double click on a slide and it will open that
slide in normal view. In this person's case,
doubleclicking on a slide in slide sorter view does nothing.

My apologies. You are correct, the double click in the sorter view should
select that slide in the normal view for all recent versions of PowerPoint.

I would check the mouse settings first: double click speed,right/left
button functions, click lock, etc.

While there in the control panel, also confirm sticky keys are off.

Are there any add-in's loaded that may be interfering with the view
settings?

You may also want to try a detect and repair for PowerPoint, rather than an
uninstall.

Bill,

It's fouth or fifth time (to my knowledge) that something like this
occurs...

All the other times IMHO were with PowerPoint 2003...

I think that simply rebooting solves it...

Very cordialmente
