Autocorrect will no longer accept special characters such
as arrows. It used to and it still functions fine for
normally formatted text. Any thoughts on how to correct?

You may want to check if the 'Auto format as you type' option has been
de-selected (Tools | Options | {tab} Edit | {checkbox} Autoformat As You
Type.

Do any of the symbols auto-generate (c) --> :) etc.?

If some do, but others don't, then check if any of the Autocorrect items
have any of the punctuation in the replace field, my PowerPoint also does
not work when this is the case (but only for that item).

If this does not fix it, and it continues, even after a reboot, then I would
try a detect and repair on PowerPoint. Beyond that, perhaps one of the
other MVP's has some ideas.

JOB ... what a great nom de keyboard for a PPT user! <g>

Idle speculation, this, but perhaps there's a limit to the number of entries it
can store? Are you crusing with just the entries that came with PPT or have
you added a ton of your own?

© and :) work but the arrow characters I add do not. I
will try Detect and Repair, and thanks again.

Do any of the ones you added include -, =, >, or <? Try deleting them and
see if the auto-arrows come back.

I have added only a few entries -- less than 12.

OK, thanks. I can't imagine that that few additions would cause problems.

What happens if you delete one of the entries you've added, restart PPT and
re-add it?
