I am new to PowerPoint. Using PP 2002 at work and 2000 at home. I have
downloaded Microsoft's add-in "Template Creation Wizard" from their web site
and installed at home and at work. The installatation appears to have worked
because I can find dll files which were installed.

But for the life of me, I can't find where or how to start up the wizard.

On what menu or dialog box (or whatever) do I click to start the wizard?
(and if there's a help file or instructions on it's use, where would I find
that?)

IIRC, it's actually installed separately -- look on the Windows Start | All
Programs menu.

Then again, I might be misremembering, so if you don't find it there, please
post a link to the add-in.

Echo,

Thanks for responding. I don't see it on the START menu. I didn't see it
at home either. Not sure what you mean by "post a link." The installation
file I downloaded was ppttpw12.exe. It installed three DLL files in
c:/programfiles/microsoft office/Microsoft Office PowerPoint Template
Creation Wizard.

If you're asking for a link to the download at the MS site, it's:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...73-ED7C-4EF0-B7F3-290424D5012E&displaylang=en
(I think it's the same file. The MS site seems like a hall of mirrors in a
maze. Sometimes I can find the download; sometimes I can't. I'm worried
that this download is for PP2003. I'm using PP2002 at work and PP2000 at
home. I'm at least hoping this add-in will work with PP2002.)

Thanks for any wisdom.

Yup, that link is just what I meant -- I agree with your description of the
MS site! I knew I'd get lost if I had to try to find it myself. :-) Thanks
for posting it.

Anyway, I installed the wizard here, and it seems to create its own toolbar.

So check under View | Toolbars and click Wizards there. That should
show/hide the Template Wizard toolbar.

I gotta tell you, though ... after looking at it, well, you really don't
need it. All it does is insert an image onto the slide and title master
backgrounds. The instructions at
http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/ppcreatemp.html and
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/tutorials.htm (creating templates) are
much more useful in the long run.

Echo S,

Thanks. It's the end of the day and I'm going home, but I'll printout the
tutorials you gave links to. I don't see a toolbar named "wizard," but if I
can do it manually, that's fine. I just need to know how to do it. The
tutorials should do it.

Thanks, a lot.

Hm. It may be that you need to turn down your macro security in order for
that add-in to become available. You could go to Tools | Macros | Security
and set it to medium. Then close PPT, reinstall the template wizard by
double-clicking the EXE you downloaded, and then restart PPT.

But I'm glad you're trying the tutorials instead. I really think you'll be
better off for them. Holler back if you need more help.
