Powerepoint2003 keeps crashing whenever I resize pictures...

I have a bunch of questions:

1. Do you have Service Pack 1 installed?
2. Does this happen in all presentations, or just one?
3. What "type" of images are these - - what is the file extension?
4. Where did the images come from?

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the Critical
Update or Service Pack 1 for Office 2003 as soon as possible. From
PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for Updates".]

Hello,

Did you know that you can automatically send a crash report to Microsoft
nearly any time an Office 2002 or Office System 2003 application crashes?

When the crash occurs a crash reporting dialog will appear with a message
that begins something like: "Microsoft Office <application> has encountered
a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

When this occurs:

1) Click on "What data does this report contain?
2) Note down the following information:

* AppName:
* AppVer:
* AppStamp:
* ModName:
* ModVer:
* ModStamp:
* fDebug:
* Offset:

3) There might also be a "bucket" number. If so, note down that number as
well.
3) Click "Close"
4) Click "Send Error Report

If you post the information noted in steps 2 and 3 above to this newsgroup
I might be able to verify whether or not this is already a known issue and,
if it's known, possibly a way to avoid or fix the problem in the future.

I get a similar problem when I open up any powerpoint presentation and
sometimes word documents that are created by a colleague in MEXICO. Any help
is greatly appreciated.
Appname: Powerpnt.exe
Appver: 10.0.4921.0
Modname: mssp3es.dll
modver: 2.0.26.10
Offset: 0000f614
Sysinfo:
WindowsNT5.1 Build 2600

Based on the modname in your error dump, I suspect one of these threads will
help.

Hank, do you have XP SP2 installed ? Just uninstall XP SP2 and that does the
trick. SP for Powerpoint2003 does not help.

I already had similar discussion in this forum and I confirmed my
resolution. XP SP2 breaks Powerpoint 2003, unfortunately.

Hi Andy,

From the version number (10.0.4921.0) it appears that you are actually
running PowerPoint 2002, not PowerPoint 2003.

There appears to be a fix available for this problem (I don't know why the
crash reporting tool did not take you to it automatically when you reported
the bug):

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=294653

I hope this takes care of your problem.
